‘Elsbeth’ and pink hot dogs hand out free food for Emmy Awards

Elsbeth Tascioni wears a lot of pink in “Elsbeth.” So it might be only fitting that the hit CBS series team up with famed Hollywood hot dog purveyor Pink’s for its Emmy Awards promotion.

For the next seven weeks, Pink’s Hot Dogs will be handing out free hot dogs to the first 100 customers every Thursday (the day “Elsbeth” airs on CBS). That means fans of “Elsbeth” and hot dogs can stop by Pink’s for a free meal on April 30th, May 7th, May 14th, May 21st, May 28th, June 4th, and June 11th.

Naturally, the hot dog was named “Elsbeth” for the occasion. The 9-inch dog comes with coleslaw, cheddar, mustard, and ketchup. Once the last free hot dog is given away, Elsbeth’s will cost $7.25.

The “Elsbeth” FYC campaign comes after CBS chose to move the show into the comedy category this year. The Eye network made this move in recognition of the show’s large amount of humor.

“I don’t think what we’re doing has changed in terms of changing categories,” said executive producer Jonathan Tolins. “I think we’ve figured it out more clearly over time. There’s always been a comedic slant to the satirical elements, the rhythm of the show, and the sparkling performances of the cast and guest stars. Yes, every episode involves a murder investigation, but the crime is more likely to involve a paper shredder, a hot tub, or a giant nutcracker head than a gun. With that distinctive ‘Elsbeth’ tone, it feels right to call it a comedy.” ”

CBS Studios is still considering Emmy nominations for “Elsbeth,” but so far the nominations include lead actress in a comedy for Carrie Preston and best supporting actor in a comedy for Wendell Pierce. Guest actors include Stephen Colbert (Episode 301), J. Smith Cameron (Episode 314), and more. Best directors include Joe Menendez (301) and Jon Aronson (313), while best screenplays include Tolins (301) and Eric Randall & Matthew K. Begbie (311).

“Elsbeth” is currently on its third season and has been renewed for a fourth season. The show has performed well on CBS since its launch in February 2024. Carrie Preston plays Elsbeth Tascioni, an eccentric lawyer turned consultant. Elsbeth Tascioni first appeared in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, and now works as a consultant for the New York City Police Department.

Preston and Pierce star. Executive producers are Robert King, Michelle King, Jonathan Tolins, Liz Glotzer, Erica Shelton Kodish, Brian Goluboff, and Gail Ballinger.
