Ahead of the release of Toy Story 5, The Walt Disney Company EMEA has released a new short film titled “Movie Magic: Jesse Saves the Situation” as part of a philanthropic effort to support local hospitals.
The short, which also features some familiar faces, features a nervous young girl in a waiting room clutching Mr. Potato Head and Jessie toys as she prepares to undergo a foot x-ray. When Buzz Lightyear says, “Mission: This child needs our help!”, the toy comes to life, takes an X-ray, and places the image where the girl can find it, giving the girl reassurance and showing her that she has nothing to fear before undergoing the procedure herself.
The short film is part of a promotional campaign called “Movie Magic,” in which Disney sprinkles a little pixie dust into the lives of seriously ill children who need it most. Fans who visit the Disney EMEA website will also have the chance to nominate a hospital where they can receive some Disney magic.
“Generations of audiences have connected with Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the Toy Story friends because of the friendship, loyalty and sense of belonging at the heart of the story,” said Lee Jury, SVP of Marketing EMEA, The Walt Disney Company. “As excitement grows for Toy Story 5, we are proud to harness the power of these beloved characters to bring comfort and joy to children who need it most. Through initiatives like Movie Moments, we are thrilled to share the magic of Disney with even more families across EMEA.”
Disney’s Movie Moments program works with charities to bring new and iconic movies to hospitals to provide a few hours of escapism, as well as mobile movie theaters and Disney+ subscriptions.
‘Jessie Saves the Day’ is available to watch on YouTube and will be shown in Vue cinemas across the UK ahead of select screenings of Toy Story 5 on June 19th.
