Showbox, the South Korean studio behind theatrical blockbusters such as “Exhuma” and the Netflix series “A Killer Paradox,” has signed a co-production agreement with ReelShort to develop original microdramas for the platform’s more than 70 million monthly active users around the world.
Under the agreement, Showbox will initially co-produce microdramas based on ReelShort’s existing intellectual property, with the collaboration expected to expand to original titles developed by Showbox. All content is exclusive to ReelShort. The first titles to appear under the deal are “Tell Me Not to Love You,” “My Secret Lover Is His Brother” and “Queen Never Cry.”
In a statement, Showbox said, “By combining Reel Short’s global platform competitiveness with Showbox’s content development and production capabilities, which have been at the forefront of Korean content, we hope to distribute high-quality short dramas and build on this foundation to expand into a wider range of genres and formats.” “We will use this partnership as an opportunity to create new success stories in the global market and further strengthen our content competitiveness.”
Showbox entered the short drama field in December 2025, starting production on “Bridal Shower: The Vanishing Bride” and “The Fallen Idol is Possessed!” The partnership with ReelShort represents a major step forward in the studio’s ambitions in this format.
ReelShort was founded in 2022 by Crazy Maple Studio and operates in over 100 countries. Showbox’s theatrical productions include The Assassination (2015), Taxi Driver (2017), The Exhumer (2024), and The King’s Warden in 2026. Last year, the studio also entered into a strategic partnership with M Studio, one of Thailand’s leading film production and distribution companies.
