Ruby Modine, best known for her roles in Shameless and the horror series Happy Death Day, and Richard Harmon, who recently starred in the global hit Final Destination: Bloodline and Fox’s newly renewed series Memories of a Murderer, have been cast in the upcoming horror thriller A Most Delightful Game, which is currently being filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
From Lazy Sunday and 10/09 Films, Karin Konoval (“Planet of the Apes” trilogy, “The X-Files”) also joins the feature.
A Most Delightful Game is the theatrical directorial debut of Bowman Modine, an Emmy-nominated director, writer and producer whose work has won a Breath of Life Award and been nominated at the Oldenburg and Tribeca Film Festivals. His previous directorial work includes the short “Merry Christmas” (starring Dick Van Dyke) and the Daytime Emmy-nominated series “Dark/Web,” which streams on Amazon Prime.
Set in the 1980s, A Most Delightful Game follows a young woman’s quest for answers about her sister’s tragic death, which leads her down a deadly highway where she must confront an unknown evil.
The screenplay was written by Cynthia Mersten, with Bowman Modine serving as co-writer. Known for his work in the horror genre, Mersten’s screenplays have received acclaim at film festivals such as the Austin Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, and Flickers Rhode Island. In 2023, her half-hour pilot Always A Bridesmaid won the Raindance Film Festival in London.
The film was shot by Alphonso Chin, with special effects created by Amazing Ape, whose credits include Long Legs, Deadpool 2, Peacemaker, and Lost in Space.
The project is produced by Artem Vasilyev and Vladislav Severtsev.
Vasilyev, who recently launched the Dublin-based production company Lazy Sunday, is known for films such as Dovlatov, Convenience Store, No Looking Back and Paper Soldier, which premiered and won awards at major international film festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, SXSW and Tokyo. Severtsev, on the other hand, brings experience producing internationally recognized genre films with notable titles such as The Bride and The Queen of Spades series.
The film will be produced by Canadian production company Hadron Film, with producers Chris Wilkinson, Ryan Merchant, and associate producer Eloise Cameron-Smith.
