Rich Paul has revealed he met his fiancée Adele “through friends” in an intimate new statement about his romance with the beloved singer.
“I’ve known her for a while,” the sports agent said on Tuesday’s episode of Craig Melvin’s “Glass Half Full” podcast.
“See, you’re only in this circle when you’re in this circle,” he continued. “But I’ve never tried to be fresh with people in my comfort circle because they always have to deal with that. So, it wasn’t my thing. It really just happened very naturally.”
Paul, 45, said of Adele’s ubiquitous songs: “Obviously you can’t help but listen to the monster hits.”
Still, he admitted he hasn’t actively listened to many of her songs, the deeper ones.
“But obviously, I’m pretty excited about different things, so, you know, there were some songs, some famous songs, but I didn’t know all of the joints that I know now,” he explained.
When Melvin continued to ask about their relationship, Paul said that they occasionally bumped into each other and grew closer.
“We’re all in the same vicinity, we’re all in the same circle, and, you know, we’re all hanging around,” he shared. “We always met and laughed and joked. It was just really, really cordial.”
Paul then remained friendly “until it wasn’t so friendly” and joked that he “became a person of interest” to the Grammy-winning songstress.
He also quipped that he was “the best singer in the house.”
The power couple sparked romance rumors in 2021, making their public debut at an NBA game that summer. The “Hello” hitmaker confirmed her engagement to the sports agent in August 2024.
Adele, who was married to Simon Konecki from 2018 to 2021 and has son Angelo, 13, previously told Oprah Winfrey that Paul was “just hilarious”.
“He’s hilarious and very smart,” she gushed in a 2021 interview. “He’s very, very smart. It’s just incredible to see what he does.”
She added that the romance “went really well” and revealed that it was “the first time I’ve loved myself and been open to loving someone and being loved.”
