Josh Hokitt was the big winner at Sunday night’s UFC Freedom 250 event, but his post-fight quip was meant to cause controversy.
After winning a heavyweight bout against Derrick Lewis on June 14 on the White House lawn, Hokitt was interviewed by Joe Rogan on a Paramount+ broadcast. At the end he exclaimed, “And finally, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” Seemingly out of nowhere.
Logan looked dismayed, but ultimately said nothing more than, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.” His words were not mentioned further on the broadcast.
For much of the night, the politics were less direct, with most discussions focused on honoring veterans and first responders, and limited to how surreal it is and what an honor it is to have combatants fighting in the White House.
President Trump was seated in the front row of the event, between first lady Melania and UFC CEO Dana White.
