Horror fans better prepare to stay on the pitch…or else!
Bad Karaoke, the new comedy-horror film from directors Chris Lightbody and Robert J. Steinmiller Jr., will have its world premiere at London-based genre film festival Tubi Frightfest on August 30th at the Odeon Lux West End. Lightbody co-wrote the script with producer Spencer Yaras.
Lexi Underwood (Little Fires Everywhere), Case Walker (The Other Two) and singer Cat Canning (Trinkets) star in this bloody, vitriolic indie.
The official “Bad” According to the synopsis for “Karaoke,” “Emily, the keyboardist for The Wedding Band, discovers an old karaoke machine in the back of a dive bar. She thinks this will lead to a fun night of singing and bonding with her bandmates. Unfortunately, it seems this karaoke machine has a bloodlust. The song begins… Then, the bloodshed begins. When someone is saved by the machine with a good performance, the crew think they’ve finally found a way to defeat the karaoke machine. It’s almost immediately proven that it’s a mistake, and it takes more gruesome deaths and a visit from a mysterious stranger to realize they might finally have a chance to survive. ”
“We were inspired to make this film after years of painful karaoke performances that nearly led to an early death,” the directors said in a statement. “We realized that a lot of people had near-death experiences at karaoke, and we wanted to tap into that idea and say something profound about the current state of new music. But instead, we created ‘Bad Karaoke.'”
