Melanie Chisholm’s wedding dress came with a classy pedigree.
The Spice Girls singer, 52, married model Chris Dingwall on Saturday in a custom-made gown designed by former bandmate Victoria Beckham.
The ceremony, held at a friend’s lakeside estate in Cumbria, England, was the couple’s second. The pair had previously been legally married in Dingwall’s native Australia, and Chisholm had borrowed a dress from Beckham’s closet for the ceremony.
“I was actually having dinner with Melanie and I asked her what she was doing,” the designer told British Vogue. “She very casually said she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married!”
Ms Chisholm had ordered a lace-trimmed cami dress from the label, but was unable to have it altered before her flight, so Ms Beckham, 52, offered the dress she wore to EE72 editor Edward Enninful’s wedding in February 2022 (several sizes are still in stock and on sale for 40% off).
The floor-length ivory slip features a soft V-neckline, low back, skinny straps and lace appliqué that runs from the bust to one hip, giving it a ’90s-inspired silhouette for the women who defined this decade.
“There’s something about her clothes,” Chisholm said of Beckham’s designs. “Slip dresses in particular are really simple. They’re very feminine, but comfortable in a way, and they’re just me.”
For the UK party, Beckham reworked the design by hand-sewing custom dyed lace on the bodice and skirt and adding a train at the request of Chisholm’s 17-year-old daughter Scarlett.
The figure-skimming cut showed off the star’s sculpted arms and shoulders.
The festival was also something of a Spice Girls reunion. Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner all visited the Lake District.
Although Beckham was unable to attend, her work walked down the aisle. Chisholm completed her look with the label’s champagne satin haarrow heels and durian clutch, and carried a bunch of wildflowers. The groom wore a Zegna suit.
Friendships never end, and neither do jerseys. Chisholm changed into champagne-colored wide-leg pants and a white sports bra for the reception.
The pair met in Raya, had their first date in Australia in November 2023, and Dingwall proposed in Mallorca in July last year.
Exactly, forever viva.
