Elle Fanning has revealed why she won’t be attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The actress made her debut 10 years ago and has participated in the last three film festivals. Earlier this week, he was photographed filming The Nightingale.
Elle Fanning made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 10 years ago, establishing herself as a regular attendee and red carpet darling at its glitzy premiere. However, Fanning will not be participating in the French tournament for the first time in three years. The actress and L’Oréal Paris ambassador revealed on Instagram that she won’t be able to travel to the Cote d’Azur this year.
“Unfortunately, my schedule did not allow me to go to Cannes this year, but I am doing well with my L’Oréal Paris family,” she wrote. “Sharing the red carpet with our ambassadors is always special! We can’t wait to see you climb the steps of the Palais, because you deserve it! @lorealparis”
Fanning is currently filming The Nightingale, which she stars in and is producing with her sister Dakota Fanning through Lewellen Pictures. She was photographed filming a project in Budapest, Hungary earlier this week.
The two actresses recently spoke to ELLE about the project, with Elle Fanning saying, “We’re really excited about ‘The Nightingale,’ which is a big step for us. We were supposed to shoot it years ago, but then the pandemic happened. At the time, we weren’t signed on as producers and the company wasn’t even established yet. And now we feel like it’s the perfect time to finally do this together, act together, produce and have more say.”
At last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Joachim Trier, director of Fanning’s project Sentimental Value, won the grand prize. She joined him and her co-stars and posed with the trophy.
Afterwards, she spoke to Numero about her experience at the festival representing the project and embracing the audience’s reaction. “I’m so proud of this movie. I love it and I loved making it,” she said. “Director Joachim Trier has directed a lot of great films. I have wanted to work with him for a long time, so I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of this film. The whole team is here. I can honestly say that I have never seen such a warm reception (almost 20 minutes of standing ovation) at the premiere. I knew from the beginning that I was going to love this movie, but it was really special.”Being in Cannes, a place that means so much to me, made the experience even more special. ”
