Swift and Dunham have been friends for more than a decade and were first photographed together at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
In Dunham’s recently published memoir, Famesic, she gives a shoutout to Swift and sheds rare light on their current bond. “Tay Tay, you sing the songs I wrote this book for, the stories that drew these stories from me, the music that makes the whole world feel seen,” she wrote via People. “And yet somehow, miraculously, you answer every desperate call at a desperate time.”
In an interview with the newspaper, Dunham described Swift as “one of my best friends in the world,” adding, “She’s also my favorite musician. My favorite musicians are my husband[Louis Felber]and Taylor Swift.”

A year later, on a July 2023 episode of the Hi-Lo podcast, Ratajkowski spoke to guest Troye Sivan about becoming Swiftie, saying that she didn’t listen to much pop music before.
“I was actually dating someone and what they were saying was that just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s not good,” she recalled. “The truth is that what’s popular is often actually incredibly good.”
She ended up really enjoying listening to Swift. “Taylor Swift is a great role model for me,” she said. “You know her, and I’ve performed with her.”
“I was never a Swiftie, but now you know what that means?” she asked. “I mean, I’m a misogynist and I didn’t fuck with Taylor Swift because I went to a Taylor Swift concert and thought, ‘This guy is a great songwriter and a great performer.’ And anyone who says otherwise, they have a problem. It’s pretty crazy, I know a lot of people want that, and it’ll make your jaw drop, but I think it’s true. If you don’t like Taylor Swift, you don’t understand. ”
