Amy Lou Wood can’t relate, or so the “White Lotus” star claimed in her “SNL UK” monologue on Saturday.
The Briton said he wanted to show a “different” side of himself after rumors of his closeness spread widely over the past year.
“Ever since I became famous, all I hear is how approachable I am and how hilarious I am,” Lou Wood explained. “But I’m here tonight to put that vicious rumor to rest. Because, you know, I’m a weirdo. I’m a weird woman. For God’s sake, I’m a Scorpio Moon. I once got a reading from an astrologer, and she said, ‘I’m sorry.’ That’s how strong my birth chart is. ”
Lou Wood also mentioned that in a previous life she was British artist and film director Derek Jarman, and said that when she flew, she wore a crystal in her bra to protect her unless the plane crashed.
“Look, I know I might sound like that bubbly Manchenian girl you lived with in the halls of college, oh, your cousin’s very sweet partner in a job you don’t quite remember. But I, Amy Lou Wood, am a freaking weirdo with a charter card.”
Many might have expected Lou Wood to mention the SNL dental controversy last April, when a sketch of Sarah Sherman wearing enlarged dentures on the US show drew criticism. However, she mentioned this in the promo for the episode earlier this week.
“Oh my god, I’m so excited. I can’t wait to start, especially after all the dental trouble in America,” she said in the teaser. “So just wiping the slate clean will make you feel better.”
Lou Wood becomes the sixth host to host SNL UK since the UK version of the live sketch show launched in April.
