Alex Cooper’s husband, Matt Kaplan, is accused of defaming Unwell Network staff and threatening their careers.
According to a bombshell Bloomberg report published on Monday, sources close to the couple’s production company, Unwell Network, claimed there was constant conflict between Kaplan and his staff.
The co-CEOs of Trending Media, who are in charge of day-to-day operations while Cooper focuses on “Call Her Daddy,” are said to have “developed a reputation for frequently yelling at staff.”
Some employees reportedly threatened to walk off movie sets and live tours.
According to Bloomberg, one witness claimed that Mr. Kaplan scolded the staff on Cooper’s new show, “Unwell Winter Games,” and threatened to stop them from working in Hollywood if they failed, causing veteran staffers to burst into tears.
The crew reportedly filed a formal complaint and told higher-ups they would resign if Mr. Kaplan’s behavior did not improve.
Most of the alleged behavior took place behind closed doors, but in the 2025 documentary Call Her Alex, a production manager threatened to quit midway through Cooper’s live tour, and Kaplan blamed his grueling work schedule.
But officials said the manager’s breakdown was the result of Kaplan yelling and swearing at staff.
Mr. Kaplan’s alleged actions came after Mr. Cooper said in a 2025 interview with Marie Claire that his door was “always open” and that as CEO he wanted to provide a “very positive and safe” environment for young staff.
Representatives for Mr. Cooper and Mr. Kaplan did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Kaplan is a producer who began her career at CBS after college, working her way up from intern to director of digital development.
A graduate of Columbia University, he founded Chapter One Films in 2013 and served as president of Awesomness Films from 2015 to 2017.
After leaving the company, Mr. Kaplan founded Ace Entertainment, best known for producing “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and its sequel.
At the time, Kaplan was married to “Originals” alum Claire Holt.
However, he and the actress, 37, filed for divorce the day before their first wedding anniversary in April 2017.
Before dating Holt, Kaplan famously dated Ashley Olsen from 2001 to 2004.
The love story between the businessman and Cooper, 31, began in 2020 when they met on a Zoom call.
Mr. Kaplan took a knee in March 2023. That same year, the two co-founded the media company Trending and its subsidiary Unwell Network. Kaplan and Cooper married in April 2024 in Mexico.
The “Call Her Daddy” host has been in the headlines all week for her feud with Alix Earle.
Cooper broke her silence on the long-rumored drama on April 13, urging Earl, 25, to “stop hiding behind everyone else” and voice his opinions instead of being “passive-aggressive” on social media.
She dragged Brianna “Chicken Fry” LaPaglia into the drama a few days later, dubbing 26-year-old Cooper a “mean girl,” but LaPaglia doubled down on Sunday’s episode of her podcast, “Pranburi Uncut.”
