New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Zachary Ty Bryan and his fiance.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office released a statement via Facebook on Monday detailing that two Eugene, Oregon residents were arrested following an incident in the Fall Creek area.
On Nov. 29 at 12:30 p.m. local time, authorities “responded to a report of reckless endangerment in the area of Big Fall Creek Road milepost 5, a popular campground northeast of Lowell.”
They learned that the Home Improvement alum, 44, and Johnny Faye Cartwright, 32, were “driving together” in the area with their three young children and that “at some point Brian got out of the truck and began walking down Big Fall Creek Road.”
“Cartwright then attempted to run over Brian, causing the truck containing the children to crash into a ditch. Brian was able to move out of the way and avoid injury. The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured,” the statement further reads.
While interviewing the couple, “investigators observed signs of impairment in both men” and learned that “Brian could not have had any contact with Cartwright.”
The sheriff’s office later confirmed that the mother of three was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and three counts of driving under the influence.
As for Brian, he was arrested for a probation violation on the original fourth-degree assault charge after a domestic violence conviction in 2023. His probation expires in 2026.
Authorities detailed that the couple’s three children are currently with family members.
The statement from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office came days after Page Six confirmed that the “Fast and Furious” actor and Carlite were taken into custody.
The child actor was refused bail and remanded in custody until Wednesday. As for Cartwright, her arraignment was scheduled for Monday.
This is not the first time Brian has been accused of attacking Carlite. In 2020, he was charged with felony strangulation, menacing, assault and harassment.
She didn’t have a cell phone charger and Brian woke her up by pulling her hair and punching her, according to a police report.
Cartwright said the abuse against Brian began several weeks ago and that he strangled her to the point of suffocation.
At the time, he was only convicted of intimidation and assault.
On November 13, Bryan claimed that his shot at stardom as a child “left a scar” in an attempt to explain away his long list of run-ins with the law.
“Being in the spotlight at the age of 9 brought pressure that I wasn’t equipped to handle. But it doesn’t justify my choices as an adult,” he told TMZ, adding that he “deeply” regrets his actions.
Brian “suffers from the lasting effects of early fame, addiction and poor decision-making,” which he attributes to his “recurring legal troubles.”
