Ozzy Osbourne’s rarely seen son Louis Osbourne has reflected on the late rocker’s funeral.
The eldest son of the Black Sabbath member appeared on Jack Osbourne’s Trying Not to Die podcast on Tuesday.
The half-brothers discussed the procession through Buckinghamshire, England, that took place in July.
Ozzy, in particular, had suffered a heart attack a week earlier and passed away at the age of 76.
Louis told listeners how surprised he was by the “so many people” who came to mourn the Grammy winner.
“Before I got into the street, about 500 meters before where the Black Sabbath Bridge was, I saw two or three people going deep and I thought it was going to be a big crowd,” he recalled.
But turnout was “outrageous.”
Louis said it gave her “goosebumps to imagine” onlookers “climbing lampposts, hanging out of windows, and standing on bus stops to see what was going on.”
he continued. “Everyone got out of their cars, paid their respects, laid flowers and started moving again, then we continued on for about half a mile before people started following us around town.”
He described the moment as “kind of an awe-inspiring event,” explaining, “I knew people loved him, but I didn’t know how many people loved him or how much.”
At the time, Lewis was pictured paying tribute to Ozzy with Jack, Sharon Osbourne, Amy Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne.
Ozzy adopted Lewis and Jessica, 53, with ex-wife Thelma Riley before they split in 1982, and also adopted his 71-year-old teacher son Elliot from a previous relationship.
Elliott does not appear to have attended the funeral.
Jessica and Elliott were left out of the family’s statement confirming Ozzy’s death in the summer, which read:
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this time.”
Louis’ name was also included in the criticism, and he paid further tribute to his late father with a subtle move on social media.
DJ changed his Facebook profile picture to a black square.
The nature of Elliott and Ozzy’s relationship remains unknown, but Jessica had become estranged from Elliott before his death.
In the 2011 documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, Jessica claimed that her childhood was “unstable” because her father was “absent for very long periods of time.”
