“A Quiet Place” and “Pretty Lethal” actress Millicent Simmonds will co-write and star in the crime thriller “Grace,” the first film from the Inevitable Foundation’s Inevitable Studios.
Inevitable Studios — the production flag led by Inevitable Foundation co-founders Richie Siegel and Marisa Torelli-Pedevska — focuses on creating commercial film and television stories told through the lens of “unique, unexpected, and disruptive” disabilities.
“Grace” is the work of the screenwriting and directing duo of Ali Costa and Ellen Celeboglu. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the story centers around a deaf teenager who uncovers violent secrets from his family’s buried past. Over the past three years, Costa, Celeboglu, and Simmons have developed a story and script that captures the real-life experience of a deaf girl, while the film examines themes including the complexities of love, violence, and forgiveness.
The independent feature film is currently in the process of additional casting and is expected to begin filming in early 2027.
Simmons made her feature film debut in 2017 opposite Julianne Moore in Todd Haynes’ acclaimed film Wonderstruck. But her big break came in the movie A Quiet Place, where she played Regan, a deaf girl whose family fights to survive in a world invaded by blind alien creatures with hypersensitive hearing. Simmons is currently working on the fourth installment of the hit sci-fi/horror series, A Quiet Place Part III, scheduled for release in 2027. Her latest film, Pretty Lethal, premiered at SXSW earlier this year. In addition to her big screen roles, she also appeared in the Broadway play Gray House, co-starring Tatiana Maslany and directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello. Simmons is a BAFTA Rising Star nominee, an alumnus of Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood Impact List, and is repped by Untitled Entertainment.
After meeting on the set of “Community” in 2011, Costa and Celeboglu formed a creative partnership to create the award-winning, genre-bending short films “The Bride” and “The Internet Kills.” The shorts caught the attention of the Russo brothers, and AGBO produced their feature debut, All Fun & Games. The film, starring Asa Butterfield and Natalia Dyer, was distributed by Vertical Entertainment and Hulu. Celeboglu began his career under Bill Lawrence, writing and directing episodes of “Scrubs” and “Cougar Town.” Costa has worked with the Russos since 2010, producing the “Avengers” and “Extraction” films.
