2 minute readHBO announced that Dune: The Prophecy will return for season 2, sharing the news during a virtual press conference in 2024 with showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker and series stars Emily Watson and Olivia Williams. The renewal came ahead of the season 1 finale.
“‘Dune: Prophecy’ has captivated audiences around the world thanks to the visionary leadership of showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, who will continue to guide us in this epic story of truth and power,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original programming at HBO Max, said in a statement. She continued, “We are excited to work with this team again and see what they have in store.”

What will Season 2 of Dune: Prophecy be about?
The show is a prequel series to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides rose to power. The film was inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and follows the two Harkonnen sisters (Watson and Williams in the series) as they create an early iteration of the Bene Gesserit, a faction that would eventually control the great empire of the Dune universe. Their dynamic will likely be explored further in season 2, as the sisters face off against Desmond Hart, played by Travis Fimmel.
“How the sisterhood survives is part of Season 2,” Schapker said at the time of the announcement.
Who will star in Dune: Prophecy Season 2?
The show welcomes back Watson, Williams, Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sophie Bousnina, Josh Huston, Chloe Lee, Jade Anuka, Faoili-Anne Cunningham, Edward Davies, Aoife Hynes, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten and Tessa Bonham-Jones.
New to the cast for Season 2 are Tom Hollander (The Night Manager), Indira Varma (Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1), and Ashley Walters (Top Boy).
