rundown
Zendaya has worn a gold band on her left ring finger during public appearances this year, sometimes pairing it with her engagement ring. The band has led fans to speculate about her and Tom Holland’s marital status, but Zendaya recently told Elle that she would not confirm the rumors. The jewelers shared details about the gold ring and how this minimalist piece could influence jewelry trends.
Earlier this year, Zendaya started wearing a gold band on her left ring finger. Sometimes it was worn with an East-West diamond engagement ring, sometimes alone or with other cocktail rings at events.
At the Spider-Man: Brand New Day photocall in Madrid on June 15, the actress showed it off again as she posed alongside partner Tom Holland with her fingers bared.
The ring has raised questions about the couple’s marital status, but Zendaya said in an interview with Elle’s summer 2026 cover story that she has no intention of confirming the rumors. “No, I don’t mean that,” she said. “They (the internet) are always looking for something.”
Still, the ring has become her signature piece, and can be layered with an engagement ring in unconventional ways.
Steph Mazuela, who founded her eponymous brand of bespoke engagement rings, explains to ELLE: “Zendaya chose to stack the rings with a small gap between them. There’s something very classic and adorable about that choice (since most people choose to stack their rings at the same height). It feels less engineered and more personal, like two separate objects that may not be perfect, but belong together.”
It is a minimalist item that makes a statement on its own. “The band looks incredibly restrained, which suggests confidence in the overall design story,” said Logan Hollowell, founder and CEO of Logan Hollowell Jewelry.
Below, more jewelers tell ELLE the details behind the gold ring Zendaya wears everywhere.
Zendaya’s band appears to be yellow gold, but several jewelers are speculating that it’s 18K.
The actress’s ring is a very timeless yellow gold, likely with a higher carat weight. Several jewelers, including Mazuela, Hella Fine Jewelry founder and CEO Lauren Bock, and Brilliant Earth’s senior vice president of merchandising Annie Chen, told ELLE that the ring appears to be 18K gold.
Hollowell explains why this metal pairs so well with other rings. “Yellow gold has a warmth to it, and symbolically speaking, it often has a more intimate and lasting impression than something bright or overt,” she says. “In contrast to[Zendaya’s]engagement ring, which already has a lot of design identity, the classic gold band can be read as an emotional anchor within the layering.”
Chen calls metal’s “rich, warm tones and timeless appeal. The value of such a classic band lies in its symbolism and simplicity.”
Jewelers estimate the width of the band to be 1.5 to 3 mm.
Jewelers typically set the width of Zendaya’s rings in the 2-3 mm range. Angie Kennedy, vice president of product merchandising at Zales, puts the lowest estimate at 1.5 to 2.5 mm.
Chen and Bock, on the other hand, believe it to be 2.5 to 3 mm, which Chen calls the classic comfort-fit band.
Bock added, “Although this width is modest, it has a presence on her hand and matches the vintage feel of the engagement ring.”
Alexandra Samit, founder and CEO of Alexandra Beth Fine Jewelry, estimates that this is a 2.5 mm semicircular band.
Clear Cut founder and CEO Olivia Landau believes the band is between 2 and 2.5 mm thick, saying it is “definitely thicker than her engagement ring and creates a beautiful contrast.”
Mazuela estimates its size to be around 3 mm and explains: “The proportions are very balanced. It has an understated and timeless feel, yet has enough presence to stand on its own.”
Estimated prices for the rings range from $1,500 to $10,000.
Jewelers say it’s difficult to estimate a ring’s value just from a photo. Its construction is very important.
“Such bands can vary greatly depending on the manufacturer, weight, and whether or not they’re custom, but I think visually they can be worth thousands of dollars, depending on the craftsmanship,” says Hollowell. “It’s the clarity, not the excess, that makes it meaningful.”
Offering a wide range of prices from $2,000 to $10,000, Mazuela explains that prices “vary depending on the manufacturer, the specific gold alloy, and the manufacturing method used to make the band. Even if the design is minimal, craftsmanship plays an important role in the final cost. Bands hand-finished by fine jewelry stores often command higher prices due to the higher level of precision and finish.”
Landau and Summitt believe the ring is worth about $1,500. Ms. Bock said that if her company Hella were to make the ring, it would cost “$1,175 in 18K yellow gold, 3mm wide.”
Le Vian CEO and designer Eddie Le Vian told ELLE that the weight of the gold is also important. “Depending on whether it is 14K or 18K and the weight of the gold, we would estimate it to be in the range of approximately $2,000 to $5,000 at today’s market prices.”
The gold band isn’t the same height as Zendaya’s engagement ring, but the gap could set the trend.
Mazuela explains that Zendaya’s engagement ring wasn’t designed to stack at the same height as other rings.
“The structure of the engagement ring itself is more important than whether the diamonds are set east or west,” she says. “The height and construction of the setting determines whether the bands can be placed at the same height. In Zendaya’s case, the ring design naturally creates a small gap when the two are stacked.”
Landau added that the gap could have an impact on the bridal industry (even if Zendaya doesn’t admit this is her wedding ring), saying she believes it will “start a trend of brides being more open to space in the bridal stack.”
Zendaya chose minimal pieces that were perfect for her red carpet look.
Zendaya has been wearing a gold ring on her left ring finger during her 2026 press tour, along with both her engagement ring and other large statement sparklers. According to Mazuela, this is a versatile band that stands out with or without other jewelry.
“What I love most about this band is that it’s minimal enough to be worn on its own,” she says. “Zendaya’s engagement ring is quite large, so adding a simple gold band allows her to have something meaningful to wear every day, even if she chooses not to wear an engagement ring.”
“It pairs naturally with other jewelry,” she added. “We know that Zendaya likes to dress up for a role, and when she wears other items on red carpets and events,[the band]feels like an extension of her personal style and can still be maintained, rather than a separate accessory.”
Kennedy describes it as quietly luxurious. “The simplicity feels intentional,” she says. “This type of unadorned gold band emphasizes clean lines and timelessness, ensuring that the engagement ring remains the focal point when worn together. The effect is quietly luxurious, minimalist yet incredibly elegant, closely aligned with Zendaya’s fashion aesthetic.”
Hollowell agreed, saying it doesn’t conflict with her other rings. Especially when she wore her engagement ring, “the choice feels intentional rather than over-styled, giving the whole stack a very contemporary confidence. As we can see, the overall effect feels sophisticated, intentional, and very personal.”
