The Edinburgh International Film Festival is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting with a screening with live commentary from cast and crew, followed by a club night at Leith’s historic Leith Theater on August 14th with DJ sets from Irving Welsh and Darren Emerson. The event will be held during the 79th EIFF, which will be held from August 13th to 19th.
Trainspotting producer Andrew MacDonald called the return a “very special night”, while EIFF CEO and festival director Paul Ridd said it would be a “forever night” to finally celebrate “the most iconic Scottish film ever made” in its birthplace. After its EIFF premiere, the film will be re-screened by Park Circus in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 21 August, before being released globally.

CJ ENM Hong Kong has licensed a package of six Thai drama series based on Korean originals to Amazon MX players in India, with full availability starting July 2. Produced by True CJ Creations, the package includes “Dear My Secretary,” “Good Doctor,” “23:23,” “Start-Up,” “Happiness” and “Thank You Teacher,” which span the romance, drama, thriller, and science fiction genres.
All 6 series are available to stream in Hindi dubbed versions with English subtitles on Amazon MX Player’s ad-supported service, and can also be accessed through the Amazon Shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, JioTV, and Airtel Xstream. CJ ENM Hong Kong framed this agreement as part of its broader push for format adaptation and cross-border collaboration as demand for Korean IP and Southeast Asian content increases internationally.

The full cast has been confirmed for the UK premiere of John Caird and Paul Gordon’s musical Jane Eyre, based on Charlotte Bronte’s novel, which will run from August 28th to October 28th at Southwark Playhouse Elephant. 24. Previously announced stars Charlie Byrne and Ashley Gilmore will play Jane and Rochester, along with Claire Greenway, Melad Hamidi, Connor Wood, Jonathan Andrew Hume, Izzy Levin, Hannah Lindsay, Isabelle Methven, Gemma Page, Eve Chanu-Wilson, Poppy Jason, and Emily-Rose Samuel.
The film will be co-directed by John Caird, who previously co-directed the original Les Miserables and most recently directed the stage adaptation of Spirited Away at the London Coliseum with Megan McGinnis on Broadway. The five-time Tony Award-nominated musical premiered in Toronto in 1996 and moved to Broadway in 2000, celebrating its 30th anniversary in the UK with Adam Blanchey Productions in collaboration with original Canadian producers David and Hannah Mirvish.

Lyric Hammersmith Theater has announced the full cast for its 10th anniversary production of Lucy Kirkwood’s The Children, directed by the venue’s artistic director Rachel O’Riordan, which will run from September 2 to October. 3. Previously announced lead actress Meera Shall will play Hazel, as well as Declan Conlon as Robin and Kerry Fox as Rose, making Fox’s first appearance at the Lyric Hammersmith.
Mr O’Riordan said: “I’m thrilled to have both Meera Shull and Declan Conlon returning to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, and to welcome the wonderful Kerry Fox for the first time.” The play follows Hazel and Robin, who survive a catastrophe and live on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone, as their daily lives are disrupted by their old friend Rose, who arrives with a buried secret and a proposition that tests their loyalty.
