The hottest Indian movie on IMDb for the second half of this year is director Nitesh Tiwari’s blockbuster Ramayana Part 1, which took the top spot on the platform’s Most Anticipated Indian Movies list for July to December.
The ranking of 20 titles is compiled from page views recorded by IMDb’s more than 250 million monthly visitors between January 1 and June 28, and includes Indian films confirmed for theatrical or streaming release in the second half of this year. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Ram in Ramayana Part 1, and his co-star Yash, who plays Ravana, took first place, while Yash expanded his presence to third place with Toxic. The list is spread across five languages, with 12 titles in Hindi, 4 titles in Tamil, 2 titles in Malayalam, 1 title in Telugu, and 1 title in Kannada.
Anil Kapoor is following a similar pattern, appearing in the Alia Bhatt-headlined ‘Alpha’, which came in at number 2, and ‘King’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which came in at number 4. Ajay Devgn anchored comedy sequel ‘Dharmaal 4’ (5th place) and crime thriller sequel ‘Drishyam 3’ (6th place), while Sunny Deol starred in ‘Ramayana Part 1’ and was ranked 12th with ‘Ikka’.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ (#8) expands Prime Video’s crime series to the big screen. Ikka (No. 12) is the only title in the ranking that allows you to connect directly to streaming.
