Millie Bobby Brown has revealed the biggest ‘life skill’ she never learned after spending her childhood on the set of Stranger Things.
“Well, I didn’t go to public school, so maybe I was a little bit outgoing,” the 22-year-old actress said on Monday’s episode of the “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast.
She explained how her lack of interaction with her own peers affected her while growing up. “Sometimes fans will come up to me and say, ‘Millie!’ and I’ll be like, ‘Oh! It’s not because I’ve been doing this…it’s just that sometimes I don’t know how to react to people my age. I’m having a harder time. ”
“I grew up in a predominantly male crew, but let’s change that. Men over 40,” Brown explained. “So I grew up listening to a lot of stories from adults, so I didn’t really talk about the things you should talk about as a child.”
“You hear, ‘Where’s the grabber? Let’s grab the ladder,’ and that’s all your conversation,” she added.
“So you can sit down with that person for hours and hours and talk about different lens changes and shots, but you can’t talk about, “Oh my god, which bar in this area do you like?!” I’m like, “I don’t know.” So, I’m missing a little bit of that. ”
However, Brown labeled her husband Jake Bongiovi the “most outgoing person” and “the complete opposite” of her.
“He went to boarding school and college, so he’s a social butterfly,” she continued. “When I met him, I really tried to lean more in that direction. So I entered the social era.”
The “Enola Holmes” star also revealed that she will be deleting her social media accounts from her phone in 2021 and has a managerial position available.
“I just couldn’t do it anymore,” Brown said. “So for my mental health, I needed to hire someone to take care of me.”
The “Damsel” star reassured listeners that she still captions herself, explaining, “I still want to feel connected to my fans…I don’t want to know what people are going to say about it, because I don’t care.”
Brown played Eleven, also known as Jane Hopper, for all five seasons of Stranger Things from 2016 to 2025.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Brown admitted that he went into a “mild depression” when filming ended.
“It was very difficult for me,” she confessed. “I never expected something like that to happen from the show. I’m a very lucky person.”
Brown and Bon Jovi, who wed in May 2024, announced they adopted a daughter last August in a joint statement shared on Instagram. The couple has kept their baby out of the spotlight and have not yet released his name.
