Paramount+ has tapped Dorothy Street Pictures, the production company behind Victoria Beckham’s “Victoria” and Pamela Anderson’s “Pamela: A Love Story,” to produce a documentary series about disgraced “X Factor” judge Tulsa.
Tentatively titled Tulisa: The Reckoning, the unscripted series follows the former pop star and talent show judge as she reflects on her journey from her humble beginnings, to her meteoric rise as the frontwoman of the band N-Dubz, to her rise to being an X Factor judge and to the scandal that destroyed her career.
In 2013, an undercover British tabloid journalist nicknamed “Fake Sheikh” tricked the singer into “setting up a cocaine deal”, which led to her arrest and prosecution. The trial collapsed when the journalist was found to have tampered with evidence (he was later found guilty of perverting the judicial process).
Ms Tulisa later revealed she had been ensnared by a journalist who claimed she could be offered a role in a film worth £3.5 million.
Although she was never convicted, Tulisa lost endorsements and jobs, including an appearance on “The X Factor,” and virtually disappeared from public life.
In addition to telling her story, the three-part documentary will follow the singer’s campaign for media regulation.
“This is more than just a story of survival. It’s a reckoning,” the synopsis for the docuseries reads. “After years of reflection, Tulisa is ready to confront and change the system that once failed her.”
Tulisa said of the project: “A lot has been said about me over the years, but not necessarily by myself. This series is about taking back control of my story and speaking openly about everything I’ve been through, not just to myself, but to others who have had similar experiences in the media spotlight.”
“Tulisa: The Reckoning” (tentative title) is scheduled to arrive on Paramount+ in 2026.
