Stephen Colbert has been milking his last few weeks as host of “The Late Show” (and rightfully so). He once threw furniture off the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater with Obama, Hanks, Oliver, Stewart and even his predecessor David Letterman.
On the penultimate episode of “The Late Show,” Colbert had a host of celebrity friends appear as guests, from Aubrey Plaza to Martha Stewart. All of his guests acted as hosts and asked Colbert, who was sitting on the guest couch, fairly random questions. For example, “What is your favorite action movie?”
Then came Robert De Niro’s turn.
the Oscar-winning acting legend and professed Trump hater appeared and asked. “What numbers were you thinking of?”
“There are hints as to what the answer is. Every time someone answers a question and gives the wrong answer, I always say no. And when I gave the correct answer, it was at least twice — Meryl Streep and Ethan Hawke guessed correctly — and Ethan Hawke immediately said, ‘I know what it is. It’s three.’ That’s the number I was thinking of. ”
And De Niro threw a curveball at his favorite target.
“Okay,” he answered. “Because I thought it was going to be 2 million points 5 or 2.5 million. That’s how many Epstein files Trump hasn’t released yet.”
This irony received loud applause from the audience and Colbert.
