Prince Harry is exploring “all options” to bring his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK despite safety concerns.
A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told Page Six on Monday that the biggest “issue” about Prince Harry’s trip to the UK with his wife Meghan Markle and their children is “whether appropriate security will be provided during the visit.”
“Prince Harry’s program in the UK includes public and private activities across the country,” the statement said. “Safe accommodation is just one element of an effective protective security plan, as risk is associated with people, not places.”
The spokesperson explained that the Royal Family and VIP Executive Committee, RAVEC, must decide on the level of security to provide Prince Harry and his family during their travels, which is a complex issue.
“Thus, without that independent assessment, it is difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can be ensured to be maintained,” the spokesperson continued.
Finally, a spokesperson said that Prince Harry “continues to explore all options to ensure the visit can proceed safely and give his children the opportunity to enjoy Britain.”
The 41-year-old former royal couple, who live in Montecito, California, and their children are vacationing somewhere in Europe ahead of a planned visit to the United Kingdom.
Page Six hears the couple is planning to take their children to the UK in July for the first time since 2022
Prince Harry, who is promoting next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham, is desperate for his family to meet his cancer-stricken father King Charles, a source said.
However, Prince Harry is said to be reconsidering crossing the pond entirely, as his battle with his homeland’s government over his security is still not fully resolved.
According to the Guardian, Prince Harry doesn’t want his children to experience “being followed by paparazzi everywhere they go from the moment they step off the plane.”
A source also told the outlet that Prince Harry was “distraught” that the Sussexes were only given private security at the proposed royal residence.
The Telegraph reported on Friday that Prince Harry is considering taking Markle, 44, Archie, 7, and Lilybet, 5, to the UK for a one-day visit.
The paper added that there was “hope” for the meeting with Charles, 77.
The “Spares” author previously lost his security privileges after he and the “Suits” alum stepped down from royal duties in 2020.
Prince Harry has returned to Britain many times since then, including last year when he unsuccessfully tried to appeal a security decision.
Meanwhile, Markle has not returned to the UK since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.
