Variety reports that Netflix has renewed the crime drama “Nemesis” for a second season.

The series originally debuted on the streamer in May. The film spent five weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV Chart, reaching the number one spot in its second week of release.

“Season 2, we’re so grateful to have this season…we’re going to make sure we answer those questions, and we’ll have more questions answered,” said series co-creator and executive producer Tani Maror. “Make no mistake, Season 2 is going to be bigger and better.”

“Nemesis” stars Matthew Law, Ylan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenic Lombardozzi, Johnny Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sofina Brown, Cedric Joe, and Jeff Pierre. Season 1 guest stars include Mo Irvin, Quincy Isiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joy, Shane Johnson, Siua Icareo, Dawn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein, and Chris Bauer

Courtney A. Kemp, showrunner, creator, and executive producer, said, “We feel blessed to be producing Season 2.” “We’re grateful to our fans…and it’s because of them. There’s no other reason why. It’s because of them showing up, talking about it, and the huge response on social media,” the series said, acknowledging the power of viewers and thanking Netflix for bringing us back for the fans.

The official logline for the series states:

“Nemesis is the story of two men on both sides of the law, and what happens when an unstoppable force (a professional criminal (Noel)) meets an immovable object (a brilliant detective (Law)). What begins as a crime series with thrilling life-or-death stakes and explosive action moves deeper into an exploration of family, marriage, and personal identity – the things that drive, sustain, and ultimately destroy us.”

As previously mentioned, Kemp and Marol are executive producers on the series, with Kemp serving as an executive producer under the “End of Episode” banner. End of Episode’s Chris Serak and Philip Burnett will also serve as executive producers. Mario Van Peebles directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Millicent Shelton, Rob Hardy, and Ruben Garcia each directed two episodes in season one.

“Courtney and Tani have created something truly special with ‘Nemesis,’ a show that captivates viewers and never lets go,” said Ne Ebon, VP of Netflix Studios Scripted Series at UCan. “The global response has been incredible. The series has resonated with fans in an emotional and far-reaching way. Their vision, skill and passion are unparalleled, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey with them through Season 2.”
