Francesca Scorsese is set to appear in Season 2 of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Variety has confirmed.
Scorsese will appear alongside previously announced cast members Mark Eidelstein and Talia Ryder. The exact details of the plot are being kept secret. It is also believed that Season 1 stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine will appear in some capacity in Season 2.
Scorsese is the daughter of legendary film director Martin Scorsese. She has branched out into acting in her own right in recent years, appearing in shows such as the HBO/Sky Atlantic series “We Are Who We Are” and films such as “The Roommates” and “Christmas Eve at Miller’s Point.”
She is repped by WME, LBI Entertainment, 42W and Hansen Jacobsen.
The second installment of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” is being filmed in Los Angeles after receiving a $22.4 million relocation tax credit from the California Film Commission. The season was originally scheduled to film in the fall of 2025, but has been postponed indefinitely.
Anna Ojan Moench will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the second season of the series. Created by Donald Glover and Season 1 showrunner Francesca Sloan, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is inspired by the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. (The show features two strangers who pair up as espionage partners rather than husband and wife.) The series was nominated for 16 Emmy Awards and won two.
The show will be executive produced by Mench, Glover, Sloan, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Steven Glover, Anthony Katagas, Fam Udeorji, and season one star Erskine, who joined season two as an EP. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and New Regency. Glover will also direct multiple episodes of season two.
Deadline first reported Scorsese’s casting.
