The Television Academy announced that Emmy Award winners Riza Colon-Zayas (The Bear) and Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere) will announce their nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards on July 8th.
The nomination ceremony will be livestreamed from the Academy’s Wolf Theater in the Saban Media Center at 8:30 a.m. PT at Emmys.com/nominations. Television Academy President Chris Abrego will moderate the event.
“This year’s entries reflect the undiminished creative range and vitality of our medium, celebrating both emerging talent and beloved creative voices who are shaping the future of our industry,” Abrego said in a statement. “We’re excited to recognize these artists and storytellers whose work is so important to audiences around the world. We’re thrilled to welcome Liza and Jeff to another extraordinary Emmy celebration.”
Colon-Zayas won the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Comedy Actress in 2024 for the FX restaurant drama “The Bear,” making her the first Latina to win in the category. This summer, she will return for the fifth and final season of the series and will appear opposite Tom Holland in the upcoming summer blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Hiller won the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Comedic Actor last year for HBO Max’s “Somebody Somewhere.” He has appeared on Apple’s “Widow’s Bay” and NBC’s “Stumble” this season, as well as guest appearances on “Pluribus” and “Elsbeth.” He published his memoir, Actress of a Certain Age, in 2025 and recently finished his one-man show, Jeff Hiller is Basic.
The Emmy race is as crowded and competitive as ever, featuring heavyweight dramas such as “The Pit” and “Pluribus,” standout comedies such as “Widow’s Bay” and “Abbott Elementary,” and acclaimed limited series such as “Beef” and “Love Story: John F. Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette.”
Nomination voting will be held from June 11th to June 22nd. The final round of voting will take place August 17-26, ahead of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and the Governor’s Gala on September 5-6. The Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on NBC on September 14th.
