“KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience” is coming to Netflix House in Dallas and Philadelphia.
This news was made to commemorate the film’s first anniversary. The ticketed experience will open at both locations this holiday season. Additionally, a fan screening of “KPop Demon Hunters” will be held at both theaters on June 20th.
Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer, shared some insight with Variety about the upcoming experience, saying, “With KPop Demon Hunters, the question was, ‘How do we bring all the elements of the movie into the house?'” Lee revealed that the immersive Netflix House experience will have exciting highlights, including a giant derpy character that fans can take pictures with.
In addition to that, there will also be other experiences from the movie. Lee said, “Music is an important element. We did a lot of research, and our fans told us they wanted music, they wanted to sing, they wanted to sing, they wanted to see us sing, so we incorporated all of those elements.”
Earlier this year, “KPop Demon Hunters” won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film. “Golden,” the most-watched movie in Netflix history, also won the award for Best Original Song. This song made history by becoming the first song in K-pop history to win an Oscar. EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, who provided Rumi’s singing voice in the movie, and South Korean hit factory The Black Label (Yu Han Lee, Hidong Nam, Chun) became the first Koreans to win the Best Original Song Award.
Netflix is no stranger to turning popular titles into immersive fan experiences. Previous series include “Wednesday: The Eve of the Outcast,” “One Piece: The Search for the Devil’s Fruit,” and “Squid Game: Survive the Trials,” allowing fans to step into the world of their favorite shows and explore first-hand. “We’re thinking about what’s the most immersive and fun thing we can give our fans over an hour,” Lee explained.
Lee expressed the hope that Netflix House’s immersive experience will provide fans with an opportunity to escape reality, which is the core mission behind Netflix House. “We want people to come back often,” she said. “While some fans may only have time to try a VR experience or see something in theaters, we want them to feel like they can come back every weekend or weekday. Creating touchpoints in local communities is important to us.”
She also hinted that additional pop-ups and events for “KPop Demon Hunter” will be held around the world, saying, “There is no shortage of ideas.”
Tickets and more information for the “KPop Demon Hunters” immersive Netflix house experience are expected to be released later this year.
