My heart never forgets.
Despite taking a short break to celebrate her 15th wedding anniversary with Eddie Cibrian, LeAnn Rimes hinted at some personal issues weighing heavily on the couple’s minds.
“I had to be away from work and my family for 3 days during a very stressful and heart-breaking event at home with my family,” the Grammy winner wrote on Instagram on Thursday, along with footage of her vacation in Cabo. “It was a different anniversary, filled with tears and worry, but in between were moments of laughter and deep gratitude for this love we have.”
Rhimes didn’t specifically discuss her and Cibrian’s family struggles, but she did reflect on how she and Cibrian had “walked hand in hand through the roller coaster of life.”
“We are so grateful to have each other. We have been through so much in our 15 years as a couple,” she continued. “We know how to ride waves 🌊, support each other when needed and repair what needs to be repaired. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together. 15 years is just the beginning.”
Meanwhile, Cibrian shared a montage of their life together on his page, captioning the sweet video: “Still burning after 15 years 🔥.”
Despite being together for over 10 years, the road to marriage was rocky for the couple.
Rhimes and Cibrian had an affair in 2008 while filming the Lifetime movie Northern Lights.
At the time, the artist had been married to chef Dean Sheremet for six years, while the “CSI: Miami” star was married to “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Brandi Glanville.
Rumors of an affair began swirling in 2009, and the “Third Watch” actor initially denied the allegations.
“This is a fabricated story that uses random snapshots as connective tissue to create a scandalous relationship,” Cibrian told “Access Hollywood” in a statement at the time.
However, by July 2009, news of Rhimes and Cibrian’s respective separations broke just days apart.
The “Take Two” star’s manager released a statement at the time, saying, “Eddie is first and foremost a devoted and loving father, and the speed increase he and Brandi are experiencing needs to be resolved privately for the benefit of everyone.”
In August of that year, Cibrian and Rhimes became a couple for the first time, with Cibrian filing for divorce from Glanville.
Cibrian and Glanville were married from 2001 to 2010 and share two sons, Mason, 22, and Jake, 19.
Rimes officially divorced Sheremet in December 2009.
The “Northern Lights” co-stars got engaged a year later and married in 2011.
Glanville admitted that she once threatened to “kill” Rhimes after she found out about her affair with her then-husband, but the women later found common ground.
In July, Rhimes reflected on “all the craziness” she and Cibrian went through when news of their affair became public.
The “I Need You” singer said she felt like she was being “targeted,” but “I quickly realized there were a lot of women out there who were hurt.”
Rhimes told Flow Space, “I’ve been on both sides of that coin. I’ve been cheated on, so I understand that feeling. But a lot of women don’t know what to do with that anger. … I was an easy target to project onto.”
“This is not all the pain I have. I know what I am responsible for in this situation and that I should atone for it,” she added.
