Beyoncé brought some nostalgia to the stage on Sunday night with husband Jay-Z for her third or third performance at Yankee Stadium.
For her performance, Queen Bey looked back to her roots and reached for the heeled boots that are familiar to her devoted fans.
Wearing crystal-covered booty shorts and a Yankees top, Beyoncé accessorized with Jimmy Choo x Timberland heeled boots, also covered in Swarovski crystals.
She and her husband sang their joint 2013 hit “Drunk In Love,” but Bey paid homage to an earlier collaboration in the pair’s history, “’03 Bonnie & Clyde.”
In the 2003 music video, the camera pans to Beyoncé’s heels next to Jay-Z’s classic boots as Beyoncé raps the lyrics, “Manolo Blahnik Timbs, aviator lenses.”
Beyoncé left Manolo Timberland in the archives for early August, but to celebrate her husband’s milestone, she turned to her collaboration with Jimmy Choo for a shiny upgrade.
In the brand’s press release, they jointly acknowledge, “Although this duo may seem like an unlikely pairing of brands, they have one thing special and one thing in common. New York is a place that is especially meaningful to both Timberland and Jimmy Choo, which is why the city was the inspiration for their second collaboration.”
And since the overarching theme of Jay-Z’s concert series this past weekend (which celebrated his 30-year career and also included surprise performances from Blue Ivy, Rihanna, Teyana Taylor, Usher, and more) was New York City, it seemed an even more fitting choice.
X’s fans went wild over her kicks, writing, “Literally fashion boots,” and “those boots are so fierce they’ll make the stage jealous.”
Another commenter echoed this sentiment, writing, “One thing we always try to do is look at the shoes!!”
