Tyler Falbo, the writer, director and producer best known for creating viral comedy videos for the sketch group Almost Friday, is directing Paramount’s R-rated comedy film.
The film, titled “Boys for Life,” is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 9, 2027 under Paramount’s newly announced Primal label. Plot details are sparse, but Variety reports that the film will be an ensemble comedy with a twist about a group of friends reuniting.
“Boys for Life” is currently in production. Variety reports that Paramount acquired the project in a competitive situation that also included A24 and Warner Bros. Falbo served as director and producer and co-wrote the screenplay with Max Barrett. Galen Core is also a producer.
As the de facto showrunner, Falbo is credited with driving the dark, genre-bending humor of Almost Friday TV, the Los Angeles-based digital media company’s sketch comedy arm that launched Will Angus, Eiliese Patton and other up-and-coming talent onto the comedy scene. Falbo will also be attached to direct “The Last Night Was a Movie,” a TV project starring Almost Friday cast members that is in development at FX.
Co-writer Barrett is the creator of Friday Beers and co-founder of Almost Friday Media, where he formed the company’s original sketch comedy crew in 2020, consisting of Liam Culler, Angus, Chet Collins and Billy Langdon.
The project is from Paramount Primal and will focus on “intelligently budgeted” films from “the next generation of storytellers” including comedy, horror, action and grounded science fiction. The label recently acquired the U.S. rights to adapt the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street” screenplay from the estate of Wes Craven.
Falbo is represented by Range Media Partners, UTA and Ziffren Brittenham. Barrett is repped by Mosaic, Fox Rothschild and WME.
