Beyoncé was spotted jamming and supporting Jay-Z’s performance in Philadelphia on Friday.
The “Drunk in Love” hitmaker, 44, was trying to keep a low profile by standing next to her rapper husband on stage while he enthusiastically performed his song “U Don’t Know,” according to a video shared on social media.
The clip showed the singer quietly headbanging to the music while Jay’s band performed on stage.
Jay-Z, 56, hosted a private event in Philadelphia on Friday night ahead of his headlining gig at The Roots Picnic Festival on Saturday night.
The small concert was meant to be an early preview of the moves he’s been preparing for tonight’s big event, as he celebrates 30 years in hip-hop as an emcee.
His show is expected to take fans on a journey through hits from his career spanning decades. In the wake of such a historic milestone, fans have already begun speculating about potential stunts and guests who might appear.
“Jay will be playing a great show at The Roots Picnic on Saturday and Sunday and Bey will be supporting her husband by being a supportive wife at the stage,” one fan wrote via X.
“Questlove hinted that the JAY-Z x Roots Picnic show is historic. So what are we thinking?” another fan account shared, adding a poll for others to speculate on, including “Only JAY-Z Features,” “Roc-A-Fella Reunion,” a surprise album release, or another B-side concert.
“JAŸ-Z disrespected Mobb Deep & Nas and brought up Missy Elliott, Destiny Child, Twista, J Rule, and Michael Jackson. All in the same concert. And that was like 45% of his current ability. I don’t know what he would do at Roots Picnic or Yankee Stadium,” a third fan wrote, referring to the rapper’s three concerts at Yankee Stadium in July. 10, 11, 12.
It’s not too far-fetched that Beyoncé is planning a brief cameo on stage with her husband over the weekend.
The couple, who have previously toured together as a package, have shared several hit songs together, including “Crazy in Love,” “Drunk in Love,” and “Bonnie & Clyde ’03.”
Most recently, in June of last year, Jay-Z made a surprise appearance at the French leg of his “Cowboy Carter” tour, and they shared the stage together.
