Jamie Lee Curtis mourned the death of her sister Kelly Lee in a social media post shared on Saturday.
“Warm aloha to my sister Kelly Lee Curtis,” the 67-year-old “Halloween” actress wrote on Instagram Saturday, alongside a black-and-white photo of her sister smoking a cigarette while getting her hair done.
Jamie wrote that his sister passed away “peacefully, at home, in nature, this morning.” She was 69 years old.
“She was my first friend and my best friend for life,” the “Freaky Friday” star continued of her sister, noting that Kelly was “stunningly beautiful and a talented actress.”
“She loved playing the wicked game of hearts, collecting turtles, her family, nature, music, thrifting, traveling, Facebook and Pokemon Go,” Jamie added.
“She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian-Jewish ancestry and was a dedicated American patriot.”
Jamie said his sister “will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and the almond and crescent powder cookies she ate at Christmas,” and recalled that Kelly would “end off any message or wish you all the best with a Hungarian blessing… Isten Vered, God is with you.”
The Oscar winner concluded his heartfelt eulogy by saying, “To Isten Vered, sister of the sun and moon, to my Thailand. Let’s meet again someday.”
Born in 1956, Kelly was the first of two children born to film legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, who divorced in 1962 after 11 years of marriage.
Jamie and Kelly grew up in Los Angeles and, like their famous parents, both went on to pursue careers in the film industry.
Kelly appeared in films such as 1983’s Trading Places with Jamie, and was a production assistant on Jamie’s 2003 remake of Freaky Friday.
She also appeared in several famous television shows, including “Judge Amy,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” and “The Equalizer.”
Kelly married playwright Scott Morphy in 1989. She is also survived by three brothers from her father’s subsequent marriages, sisters Alexandra Curtis and Allegra Curtis, and a brother Benjamin Curtis.
Another brother, Nicholas Curtis, died in 1994.
