Jodie Sweetin has opened up about how she and her Full House co-star John Stamos have “celebrated” each other along the road to sobriety.

“John and I got through[sobriety]and really, really connected in a lot of ways,” the actress said during an appearance on “The Dolly Jackson Interview” on July 15.

She added that Stamos, 62, “gave me an award a few years ago for some of the work I did,” noting that she won the Experience, Strength and Hope Award in 2019.

“We’re here to celebrate each other’s big successes and milestones, and I’m so happy to be an example of glamor, not promotion, which is a great tenet of recovery,” Sweetin, 44, continued.

Sweetin said people in recovery follow this principle, summarizing it as “the result of all your efforts, and those who are looking are more likely to find you.”

The mother of two, author of ‘unSweetined’, which covered her journey to recovery, recalled the last time she had a drink in 2011. Meanwhile, Stamos stopped drinking in 2015.

“It’s been a very long journey. The work I did in the 12-step program, the work I did in outside programs and therapy, and a little bit of growth and perspective, all of that stuff,” she explained.

Sweetin said being sober since 2011 has given her “a lot of freedom” and an opportunity to discover what she’s “capable of”.

“You have the opportunity to be someone else. Once you actually like that person, it’s really hard to go back and continue the destructive behavior,” she said in a YouTube interview.

Stamos’ representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.

In 2023, Stamos revealed to People that after he was arrested and charged with drunk driving in Beverly Hills in June 2015, he “drank a bottle of wine to forget what just happened” after returning home from the hospital.

After the incident, Stamos admitted he “hustled” filming “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” in Canada before entering a 30-day substance abuse program.

“I hated it. I really hated the way I felt, I hated letting people down, I hated myself, I hated looking in the mirror and thinking, ‘This is not the person my parents raised me to be. What am I doing? Who is this idiot?'” he told Mayim Bialik in a 2023 podcast appearance.

In 2019, when Stamos honored Sweetin’s memoir with the Experience Strength and Hope Award, he gushed about his co-star’s support, saying he “hit rock bottom.”

“Jody lovingly allowed me to follow my own path, and when I finally humbled myself and asked for your help, I realized that my spunky little chatterbox had become a master of wisdom and was right by my side during some of the most difficult times in my life,” he told Variety at the time.
