Rick Devens was scheduled to appear in a cameo in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, but the reality star had filming duties for Big Brother.
Gunn’s cameo appearance came after Devns gave a shoutout to the DC Studios co-head during Thursday’s live broadcast of Big Brother season 28’s eviction episode. After Gunn shared the clip on social media, a follower asked if Devens would appear in the Superman sequel.
“No, because he’s on ‘Big Brother’! Otherwise he would have been on,” Gunn wrote in the thread.
When another Threads user asked if he and Devens knew each other, Gunn replied, “I do. He was supposed to be in the background for ‘MoT’ but had to cancel (his amazing wife and kids were still coming). He couldn’t tell me why, but he told me he’d be excited for me. Obviously I knew!”
“Survivor” alum Devns was one of three surprise houseguests revealed on the “Big Brother” Season 28 premiere. This season’s cast also includes Dee Validares, Angela Murray, Jason De Puy, Kamuela “Cam” Kirk, Ashley Traill, Barrett Pfeiffer, Chak Anyanwu, Drew Campbell, Haley Togmartin, Latrice Verret, Lyric Medeiros, Mallory Aurichio, Melody Morris, Roma Seymour, Taylor Brown, and Yash Patel.
“Big Brother” contestants compete for a prize of $750,000. Episodes air Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 8-9 PM ET/PT on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+ after their on-air debut.
“Man of Tomorrow” is a sequel to director Gunn’s “Superman,” which was released in theaters in July 2025. David Corenswet is set to reprise his role as the Man of Steel opposite Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. The film is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2027.
