The first trailer for Heartstoppers Forever is here, giving a preview of how Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring’s love story will end (at least on Netflix). The feature film concludes the beloved “Heartstoppers” storyline after its third season and will begin streaming on July 17th.
Creator and executive producer Alice Osman, who adapted Heartstopper from her best-selling graphic novel series, will write the screenplay, and Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice) will direct. Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie) return as executive producers. William Gao (Tao), Yasmine Finney (Elle), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Toby Donovan (Isaac), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Leila Khan (Sahar) are also set to co-star. The trailer is the perfect soundtrack for Olivia Rodrigo’s “Stupid Song,” from her new album You She’m Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which was released last week.
Since its debut in April 2022, Heartstopper has become a cultural touchstone, captivating legions of devoted fans with its honest and tender portrayal of the budding romances not just between Charlie and Nick, but also between Tao and Elle, Tara and Darcey, and Imogen and Sahar. This show also made Connor and Locke into true stars. Connor and Locke starred in the Broadway production of Romeo + Juliet with Rachel Zegler and the heartfelt Iraq war film Warfare, the latter of which starred opposite Kathryn Hahn in the Marvel film Agatha All Along on Disney+.
The third season of Heartstopper, which airs in 2024, ends with Nick and Charlie having sex for the first time. Charlie finds new confidence after battling mental health, and Nick ponders which college he wants to attend. What Nick’s impending graduation means for Nick and Charlie’s relationship, not to mention their group of friends, remains unresolved. The final volume of Ausman’s graphic novel Heartstopper has not yet been published, so unlike previous seasons, fans won’t know how Nick and Charlie’s love story will end on the show.
