“The Rookie” and “Will Trent” have both been renewed for new seasons on ABC.
With this renewal, “The Rookie” will be in season 9 and “Will Trent” will be in season 5. Both shows are currently airing new seasons on ABC, and both are scheduled to air their respective season finales in early May.
As previously reported, ABC has already renewed primetime dramas “9-1-1,” “9-1-1: Nashville,” “High Potential,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Similarly, the popular comedy series “Abbott Elementary” was renewed in March. That means the only shows waiting to announce new seasons are the freshman drama “RJ Decker” and the sophomore multi-cam comedy “Shifting Gears.”
ABC recently shot a pilot for a spin-off of “The Rookie,” “The Rookie: North.” The pilot, starring Jay Ellis, follows a man who joins the police force after committing a violent home invasion in the Pacific Northwest. As of this publication, we are still waiting for information about the series’ pickup.
The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Wade Gray, Melissa O’Neal as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Noone, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, Lise Chavez as Selina Juarez, and Derick. Miles Penn played by Augustine.
Alexi Hawley created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Mark Gordon, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross, Bryn Malone, Moira Kurland, Bill Roe, and Jon Steinberg are also executive producers on the series. Produced by Lionsgate Television in association with 20th Television.
“Will Trent” Ramon Rodriguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormwood, Kevin Daniels as Benjamin Franklin, Sonya Thorne as Amanda Wagner.
This series is based on the “Will Trent” books by Karin Slaughter. Heldens, Thomsen and Rosenthal also serve as showrunners. This series is produced by 20th Television.
