Kim Dickens (Better Sister), Paul Sparks (Physical), and Rob Corddry (The Audacity) have been cast in director Jaume Collet-Serra’s new psychological thriller, An Innocent Girl.
The Netflix film stars Kerry Washington (who also serves as an executive producer), James Marsden, Chloe East, and Colman Domingo, and tells the story of a young, ambitious woman who is seduced by a powerful DC couple and drawn into a dangerous world of sex, power, and murder. Variety exclusively revealed earlier this year that the film was in production.
Collet-Serra will direct “An Innocent Girl” from a screenplay by Michael Maughan and Marc Guggenheim, with recent revisions by Carly Rae. The project will be the Spanish filmmaker’s follow-up on the streamer after scoring 2024’s Carry On. The action-thriller, set during Christmas, is the third most-watched movie in Netflix history, behind “KPop Demon Hunter” and “Red Notice.” An Innocent Girl is the first film from Collet-Serra’s subsequent multi-year creative partnership with the streamer.
Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are producing the film in a creative partnership with Berlanti/Schecter Films and Netflix. Guggenheim, Mike McGrath and Scott Greenberg will executive produce with Washington.
The casting move will reunite Dickens and Domingo, who co-starred on AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead.” Dickens, whose resume includes “Gone Girl”, “The Hollow Man”, “House of Cards” and “Deadwood”, is currently starring in the Prime Video drama “Better Sister”. She is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment, and Wolf-Kasteler PR.
Sparks’ history with Netflix goes back to “House of Cards.” The actor was nominated for an Emmy Award for Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance. Sparks is also known for her roles on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Night Of,” as well as Starz’s “The Girlfriend Experience.” Most recently, she has appeared in the Apple TV series “Physical,” Prime Video’s “The Better Sister,” and FX’s “The Lowdown.” His film credits include “The Greatest Showman” and “By Riders.” Sparks is repped by Gersh, Circle M+P and Shelter PR.
Corddry is best known for comedies such as the Emmy Award-winning series Children’s Hospital, Ballers, Bookie, and the film Hot Tub Time Machine. He will next star in AMC’s Silicon Valley-set dark comedy “The Audacity” (out April 12), as well as the Netflix action comedy “Bad Day” starring Cameron Diaz. Corddry is repped by Buchwald, Artist First, Seashell PR and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
