Kate Moss and Emily Ratajkowski are Gucci’s newest “it” girls.
In the campaign, titled “Beauty and the Bag,” lensed by Mert Arash and Marcus Piggott, the model duo shows off the brand’s latest handbags wearing little else.
According to the brand’s press release, the campaign “underlines the important role of the Gucci bag in the wardrobe,” and does so by styling it as a single item worn by each model in many shots.
In one photo, Moss, 52, stares into the camera wearing barely-there brown panties that match an oversized brown borset bag ($3,450) that covers her chest.
In another photo, she wears more conservative black pants, but uses a miniature version of her coordinating black bag ($3,100) as a top.
As for Ratajkowski, one photo shows the model holding a logo tote ($2,350) over her torso while wearing similar black pants, while another shot shows the 34-year-old wearing a Gucci logo underwear set with the same brown tote slung over her shoulder.
A longtime friend of Moss, her collaborations often coincide with the reintroduction of the new Sartrean era.
She first appeared on the Gucci runway in 1995, when Tom Ford was appointed creative director, and was the face of the brand’s 2001 Inez & Vinoodh ad campaign (she also walked in the runway show that season).
In 2014, Moss appeared in a short digital film promoting the reintroduction of the Jackie bag, and just a few weeks ago she appeared on the Gucci runway for the first time in 25 years wearing a peek-a-boo thong dress to celebrate the debut collection for Italian design house Demna.
Ratajkowski, on the other hand, is the face of Gucci’s new era.
She attended the same show at Milan Fashion Week, her first catwalk for the brand, wearing a crystal-encrusted minidress. And Emrata is true to her skin, down to the skin, flashing a Gucci logo thong spray tan after the runway. Additionally, Ratajkowski appeared in Gucci’s summer advertising campaign in June of this year.
We’re here for this supermodel team-up.
