Ryan Lochte’s ex-wife Kayla Ray Reid has accused the swimmer of cheating on him with his new girlfriend, likening him to Khloe Kardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson.
Reed, 34, made the surprising claim during Monday’s episode of the Comeback Era podcast.
After accidentally referring to the Olympian’s girlfriend Molly Gillihan as Lochte’s “mistress,” Reid’s co-host Caroline Ranney said, “Technically, my husband is still living with his girlfriend already.”
“I’m very happy for him,” Reid responded. “They’ve been happy for a very long time. They’ve been happy for a very long time, many years.”
Lochte, a former Playboy Playmate, went on to say that he was “scared to date” because “so many women” messaged him during their relationship.
“Sadly, that happened a lot,” Reid told her co-hosts. “I noticed it happening during pregnancy or postpartum.”
“You’re in a very vulnerable place, you’re very uncomfortable with your body, and you just want to feel beautiful and loved and satisfied. But he seemed to be fishing elsewhere.”
After Lanny brought up the Kardashians, Reed said she “sobbed” because “I’ve never felt so much empathy for someone’s story.”
“I felt very connected to her somehow,” Reid said of Thompson’s betrayal of the reality TV star. “I know how she felt so much.”
Thompson, 34, had an affair with Kardashian, 41, in April 2018, just before their daughter True was born.
Despite dating on and off after the scandal, the pair appeared to have broken up for good when it was revealed that Thompson had fathered a child with Maralie Nichols as a result of his affair.
At the time, Kardashian and Thompson had given birth to their second child, son Tatum, through a surrogate in July 2022.
A representative for Lochte did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Reid filed for divorce from Lochte in March 2025. The former couple were married for seven years and had three children, Kaiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
She announced their breakup in June 2025.
“After deep prayer and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to end my marriage,” the real estate agent wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.
“This has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life because I put my marriage first,” she added.
Reed went on to hint at “betrayal” in her and the swimmer’s marriage before Lochte was spotted getting cozy with a new woman.
Earlier this year, Lochte announced that he had moved in with Gillihan and their three children.
“I fell in love with someone who shared the same values and had three children with me,” Lochte, 41, told People magazine in January.
He continued, “Together we are a family with six children. She is my best friend and our children have an incredible bond. And it became clear that being together under one roof was the right next step for all of us.”
Ms Reid said last month that her estranged husband was not the “fit” father for her children.
Gillihan, 37, appeared to hit back at Read on Instagram the next day with a post slamming “harsh” and “unkind people.”
“Don’t regret being a good person (to them),” Lochte’s new girlfriend wrote. “Your actions say everything about you, and their words and actions say everything about them.”
She concluded, “Be kind, even when they don’t deserve it. Be kind because God will protect you.”
