Britney Spears candidly admits she’s “lucky to be alive” after overcoming treatment from her family.
“As humans, what we really want is to feel connected to each other and never feel alone,” the pop star wrote on Instagram Wednesday.
“To all the families who said (sic) that to help you was to make you feel isolated and incredibly alienated… They were wrong. We as people can forgive, but you must never forget.”
“It’s always important to crave and crave contact!!!” Spears, 44, continued. “I’m incredibly lucky to be alive to have even had my family treat me for once in my life, but now I’m scared for them.”
“It’s weird how God works in mysterious ways,” the “Toxic” songstress explained, adding, “Friend, what do you think God is saying today??”
“Because, let’s be honest, no matter what he says, they’ll never take responsibility for what they did.”
The hitmaker said, “I broke my toe twice!” and concluded that he “hasn’t danced in a month.”
Britney’s representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
Britney was embroiled in a 13-year conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears, from 2008 to 2021, giving him control over her finances, medical decisions, and personal and professional procedures.
Before her conservatorship ended, she testified against her father, claiming he forced her to go on his 2018 “Piece of Me” tour and stay in Las Vegas.
The Grammy winner claimed that Jamie put her on a “very strong” drug known as lithium when she didn’t cooperate during rehearsals for her residency.
Britney also said that Jamie forced her into rehab and threatened to stop her from seeing her children (Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline) if she didn’t cooperate.
The “Circus” singer also revealed that she was required to use contraception and was prohibited from getting married or having children.
Britney opened up about her conservatorship in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, claiming her only purpose was to “help[her family]finances.”
According to court filings, Jamie gave himself approximately $6 million throughout his years as Britney’s conservator.
Britney remains estranged from Jamie, and a source told Us Weekly in September that there was no chance of a reconciliation despite Jamie’s health issues.
But while she has worked over the years to “rebuild” her bond with her mother, Lynne Spears, sources told the media that their relationship is “very fragile” with communication “every few weeks.”
As for Britney and her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, their relationship is reportedly on the mend after their famous feud in 2022.
The “Criminal” singer is the closest thing to her brother Brian Spears, who she recently separated from ex-husband Sam Asghari in August 2023.
