Fandom has named Jay Sullivan, a former executive at Mozilla, Groupon, Facebook, and Twitter, as its new CEO.
Sullivan joins after Perkins Miller stepped down from the fan community-driven media company’s top post last October.
Founded in 2004, Fandom is best known for its Wiki platform, which attracts 350 million unique visitors per month. The company also owns GameSpot, Metacritic, TV Guide, and Fanatical.
Previously, he served as general manager of consumer and revenue products at Twitter, where he led engineering, product, design, research, and data science. Prior to joining Twitter, Sullivan held executive positions at Facebook, Groupon, and Mozilla.
“Wiki technology has enabled 300 million fans to pursue their pop culture interests on Fandom every month. In the age of AI, fans’ ability to dig deeper into what they love could be amplified in exciting ways,” said Jimmy Wales, co-chair of the Fandom board and founder of Wikipedia. “Jay Sullivan’s experience working on a wide range of products and understanding of the power of community make him the perfect leader to lead Fandom into the future. Under his stewardship, I look forward to seeing how the platform continues to grow and thrive and better serve the Fandom community.”
Sullivan continued, “I’ve always been drawn to building products that millions of people use every day, but also serve as a platform for others to build upon. Across the entertainment and gaming industry, Fandom is uniquely positioned to operate at scale as a destination for fan communities and as a platform for the industry to connect with fans. We’re excited to work with our team, community, and industry partners to continue building this ecosystem together.”
