Variety reports that Jack Aldridge has been cast as the lead in Hulu’s pilot “Foster-Dade.”
Aldridge will star alongside previously announced cast members Chloe East, Matt Bomer and Cameron Mann in the pilot, which is based on the Nash Jenkins novel Foster-Dade Explorers of the Cosmos. It was originally featured as a pilot on Hulu in August.
The project’s logline describes it as “a sophisticated mystery set in an East Coast boarding school that explores privilege, scandal, sexuality, and masculinity in the midst of social media, millennial anxiety, and the rise of pharmaceuticals.”
Foster Dade’s character is “a lonely, anxious, rabid reader who self-medicates and blogs according to the recommendations of psychologists. He has a deep soul that he doesn’t know what to do with yet, and he wants to be liked and fall in love. “He feels the pain of being known in a way that his broken home life would never allow him to. He has no idea that his desire for reform will put him at the center of the biggest scandal in the school’s history, and that his name will be remembered.” It will be whispered about by Kennedy students for decades to come. ”
Aldridge has just graduated from Guildford School of Drama. He recently appeared in the Netflix series Death by Lightning and appeared in the 2025 John Lewis Christmas commercial. She will next be seen in season 15 of the hit drama Call the Midwife and the BritBox/ITV1 series The Lady. Both shows are scheduled to be released in 2026.
He is repped by Hatch, Anonymous Content, and CAA.
“Foster Dade” is written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Bash Dolan. Sarah Schechter and Lee London Redman of Berlanti Productions will also executive produce, along with Donald De Line, Robbie Rogers and Jenkins of De Line Pictures. Daniel Minahan will direct the pilot. The studio is Warner Bros. Television, with which Berlanti has an overall contract.
“We knew that the title character, Foster Dade, would be the heart of this show,” Berlanti, Schechter and Dolan said in a joint statement. “We needed an actor who could embody every emotion and discern the line between hero and antihero. After searching the world over and looking at thousands of talented young actors, we were lucky enough to find Jack Aldridge. Fresh out of drama school, Jack is an extraordinary talent. He has a bright future ahead of him and we are lucky to be a part of it.”
