Sidney Sweeney and Tom Cruise’s recent exchange has gone viral, and lip readers are now weighing in on their interesting conversation.
Jackie Press told the Daily Mail that the actors’ chat at the 2025 Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday was about work.
Reporters said Sweeney, 28, spoke to the 63-year-old action movie star about an injury he sustained while filming the new biopic “The Christie.”
“I never broke a bone, but I cut my face open,” she said, allegedly detailing a nosebleed and concussion she suffered while filming a “real” fight scene. She also mentioned “stitches.”
According to the Press, Sweeney blamed his injury on trying to portray boxing legend Christy Martin as accurately as possible.
Cruise can relate, as he has suffered multiple injuries during stunt work over his 40-year career, including a broken ankle, torn shoulder, and cracked ribs.
But it’s unclear what he said to Sweeney because his back was to the camera.
The “Euphoria” star appeared dazed during the interaction, but Press insisted he kept things professional.
Sweeney, who is currently dating retired music manager Scooter Braun, looked elegant in an off-the-shoulder silver sequined dress with a sweetheart neckline and long cascades down the back.
Meanwhile, Cruz, who is newly single after his split from actress Ana de Armas, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.
Later that night, the “Mission: Impossible” star accepted an honorary Academy Award and gave an emotional speech in front of a crowd of Hollywood stars.
“Movies take me all over the world,” he partially marveled. “It helps me recognize and respect differences. It also teaches us our common humanity, how similar we are in so many ways.”
“And no matter where we come from, in that theater we laugh together, we feel together, we hope together. That’s the power of this art form. That’s why it’s important, that’s important to me. That’s why it’s not my job to make movies, it’s who I am.”
