The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council voted unanimously Monday night in favor of a conditional use permit for ArcLight Hollywood and Cinerama Dome to serve alcoholic beverages.
Elizabeth Petersen Gower, a land use consultant working with the owners of the theater complex known as the Dome Center, LLC Robinson Property Group, told the neighborhood association, “We are very excited to be here at this point. Approval of the conditional use permit will be the next big step towards reopening the ArcLight Theater and Cinerama Dome.”
“The family is committed to redeveloping this property and getting it back up and running, and I think you can see their true commitment and direction in bringing Blue Note to this property,” she continued, referring to the Forman family, who own the theater.
When Variety asked if she could give us a timeline for the reopening, she replied, “It’ll be very soon. The rights are a big part of it and things are going very well.”
Work on the complex has continued since the Blue Note Jazz Club opened in the same Sunset Boulevard development.
The affirmative vote follows a June zoning hearing prior to Blue Note’s opening. The role of neighborhood associations is to advise city council members and other officials, but they cannot make laws or approve conditional use permits.
The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council’s agenda was to consider potential action by writing a letter for or against a conditional use permit for “the continued sale and dispensing of all types of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption in conjunction with the existing theater and restaurant located at 6360 W. Sunset Blvd.”
