Kim Kardashian chronicled the reality of preparing for the California bar exam.
In a candid video posted to Instagram on Sunday, November 16, the 45-year-old reality star shared the stressful moments leading up to the exam that will determine whether she can become a lawyer, and revealed that she previously failed.
“I’ve been sharing so much of this journey with you all, and this summer I documented some of my last two weeks of study, the highs, the lows, and everything in between,” Kardashian wrote in the caption. “On November 7th, I found out I didn’t pass the bar. I was disappointed, but it wasn’t over. This dream means too much to me to run away from, so I’m going to keep studying and learning and expressing myself until I get there.”
The video begins with Kardashian sitting on her bed crying and then rewinds to two weeks before the test. In the following clip, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star gave a glimpse of the amount of work it took to prepare for the exam, which consisted of five one-hour essay questions, one 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions.
Her time was spent reviewing cases, collaborating with the teaching team, and thoroughly researching the course. Kardashian became so obsessed with the process that she started having dreams about missing marks during exams.

To make the countless study hours even more stressful, the SKIMS founder kicked her out, resulting in several “disk problems”. Eventually, her emotions reached their breaking point.
“Every time I feel like I’m taking a step forward, something happens to try to stop me,” Kardashian said through tears. “Part of me just wants to stop. I feel like my brain is going to explode. There’s still so much work to do.”
But she remained committed to her goal. And while her four children were on vacation, she spent as much time as possible making sure they were ready to take the exam.
“I feel really good about everything,” Kardashian said the day before the test. “My body feels good. I feel much better than before. I feel good. I feel ready.”

But on Nov. 7, the same day that Hulu’s All’s Fair first aired, Kardashian received the news that she had failed the bar exam. In this show, she plays a divorce lawyer who quits a male-dominated firm and starts a business with her female colleagues.
“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet. I just play a well-dressed lawyer on TV,” Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Story at the time. “It’s been six years since I started this legal journey, and I’m still fully committed to passing the bar exam. There are no shortcuts and I’m not giving up. I’m just learning more and being more determined.”
“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me thus far,” she added. “Failure isn’t a failure. It’s energy. I was so close to passing the exam that it gave me even more motivation. Let’s go!”
