Match Factory has begun selling Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, director Jane Schoenbrun’s slasher film starring Hux actress Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, at AFM in Los Angeles.
The film, produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner’s Plan B, is currently in post-production, with Match Factory sharing the first promo with buyers.
Mubi is financing the film, which will be distributed in select territories including North America, Latin America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Italy, Spain, Turkey, India, Australia and New Zealand, with Match Factory handling remaining global sales. Daniel Beckerman’s Scythia Films will provide local production services.
The film focuses on the creation of a reboot of the infamous slasher series Camp Miasma. When the director of the latest film falls in love with the mysterious, reclusive actress who played “The Last Girl” in the previous film, a whole new breed of slasher emerges from the depths of the lake.
Schoenbrunn’s directorial credits include “I Saw the TV Glow,” “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair,” and the experimental documentary “A Self-Induced Hallucination.” I Saw the TV Glow was nominated for six Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director, and three Gotham Awards. Together with Plan B and New Regency, they will write, direct and executive produce the graphic novel Black Hole as a series for Netflix.
Einbinder is best known for her role as Eva on the Emmy Award-winning HBO comedy series Hux. Her performance won an Emmy Award, a Critics Choice Award, and three Golden Globe nominations. Anderson has won two Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.
