Bella Hadid shares insight into her ongoing battle with Lyme disease.
The supermodel posted several reshares on Instagram on Friday, including the quote, “When your chronic illness is a chronic illness and someone says, ‘It’s always about you,’…well…one might say that the illness is…chronic.”
She also reshared influencer Alexandra Wildson’s post titled “The Duality of Life with Chronic Illness.”
“Medical anxiety is real,” Hadid wrote above the slide, tagging the poster.
“Thank you for summarizing all my thoughts and daily situations in one swipe. It’s true!”
Hadid, who appeared to be struggling with what she described as 50-pound wings at last month’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, was diagnosed with the disease in 2013.
The Orebella perfume creator, 28, shared a surprising photo from her hospital bed in September during a years-long battle with the disease.
In the photo, Hadid was seen hooked up to an IV drip in a hospital bed. She was also photographed blushing, covering her mouth in pain and covering her forehead with plastic wrap.
Hadid also shared a snap of herself in a Pikachu costume and a photo of herself eating a late pizza dinner in a hospital bed.
The final snapshot showed the Frankie’s bikini model clutching a drink in the corner of an elevator. “Sorry for being MIA all the time, I love you all,” she captioned the Sept. 17 photo.
Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, commented, “❤️ Lyme warrior,” while her sister, Gigi, wrote, “I love you! I hope you feel as strong and good as you deserve soon!!!!!”
Yolanda also shared a photo of her daughter from her visit to the hospital. There was a moment when the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum held Bella as she was hooked up to an IV in a hospital bed.
Another photo showed Bella wrapped head to toe in a wet towel and hooked up to an oxygen machine, while another showed a table covered in medication and supplies the model was taking to deal with her symptoms.
Yolanda, 61, captioned the photo, adding: “🩷You know watching Bella struggle silently cut into the deepest core of despair within me.”
“The invisible disability of chronic neurogenic Lyme disease is difficult for anyone to explain or understand. But my own pain is nothing compared to watching my baby suffer.”
Yolanda also praised her daughter’s “courage” during her health battle, adding that Bella “has learned how to live in the prison of a paralyzed brain.”
Yolanda concluded her caption by writing that Bella is a “survivor” who “continues to fight for better days” despite “countless setbacks.”
Yolanda has also been diagnosed with Lyme disease, which Bella and Anwar Hadid, 26, revealed during an emotional speech in 2015.
“This award is for Anwar and Vera,” she said at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala.
“This is my testimony and my promise that I will not let you live a life of pain and suffering.”
