Despite rumors of a breakup, sources tell TMZ that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater remain together. The “Wicked: For Good” co-stars are keeping their distance during the current press tour. TMZ’s source explained that the two just want to focus on their own projects and not their private love story.
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater were kept apart during the Wicked: For Good press tour, but sources close to the pair have told TMZ that they’re still mostly together. Despite rumors of a breakup, on Monday’s UK premiere, onlookers spotted the pair holding hands and “being affectionate backstage”, although they were separated in the group photo.
Sources told TMZ, “Everything is fine between them and they always make time for each other, despite their busy work schedules.” They added that Grande is a family person, which is why she and Slater rarely appear on public dates.
All in all, she and Slater are “just private people who want to focus on their movies and not their personal lives,” the source said.
Grande and Slater announced on Instagram this week that they remain supportive partners. The two actors liked almost all of each other’s posts. Grande also shoved a photo of her and Slater together on the UK premiere photo merry-go-round.
The actress hasn’t said much about Slater since last fall, when she spoke to Vanity Fair about the attention her love life has received as a result of her fame.
“It never gets any easier when you see the negativity generated by disreputable tabloids,” she said. “Of course, during the filming of this movie, I went through a lot of life changes, and so did a lot of the people who were working on this movie. We were separated for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to kind of create something to pay the bills.”
She also defended Slater’s character, saying, “There’s no one on this planet who would go the extra mile or put themselves out there for the people he loves and cares about. There’s no one with a better heart on this planet, and no amount of bullshit tabloids can translate that into reality.”
