France first took notice of her warm, medium-brown hair when Grande appeared on the country’s Quotidian talk show with her Wicked co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Cynthia Erivo. Rather than wear her hair in a tight ponytail, she let it down in soft waves to make the most of her new color.
Grande spoke to the New York Times earlier this week about how Glinda’s journey in the second film mirrors her real-life journey. “I’m also slowly working on getting permission to step into my own magic,” he said. “It’s so funny because at work I’ve always given myself permission to kindly and lovingly ask for what I need, but when it comes to real life, I don’t know how to do that. It’s been a work in progress for years.”
Regarding her current work, Grande added: “I’ve never felt like this was connected to my art or inspired, and that was a really great gift. It’s like, oh, I don’t have to actually take on what’s projected onto me. I can focus on my art, and it can be a separate entity. But I had to give myself permission to think that way.”
