Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Trailer: First Release

Kill Bill fans have some unfinished business. Lionsgate has released a trailer for the next theatrical release of Quentin Tarantino’s “A Whole Bloody Affair,” a four-hour cut (281 minutes with 15 minutes intermission) that combines “Kill Bill Vol. 1” and “Kill Bill Vol. 2” into a single feature-length feature. The feature-length version of the action classic has been in storage for years until this release, marking its first theatrical release.

Lionsgate will release “The Whole Bloody Affair” on December 5th and will play in all major markets in North America. Distribution plans also include special screenings in 35mm and 70mm, which appear to have been newly produced for this release. Last summer, when “A Whole Bloody Affair” had a limited run at Tarantino’s Vista Theater in Los Angeles, the theater showed Tarantino’s personal print made for the film’s 2006 Cannes premiere, complete with French subtitles and all. During showtime, there was a break between the “Vol. 1” and “Vol. 2” events.

Kill Bill was originally conceived and shot as one feature, but was split into two parts to accommodate its extended running time. These parts were released six months apart in October 2003 and April 2004 and collectively grossed more than $330 million worldwide. Tarantino premiered The Whole Bloody Affair two years later at Cannes. This version was not shown again until 2011, when it was screened in Los Angeles at the director’s own New Beverly Cinema. It was then put into storage again until Vista was implemented in July.
